CHEF ALEX CHEN INDUCTED INTO DISCIPLES ESCOFFIER INTERNATIONAL

WHISTLER, BC (September 23, 2026) - Wild Blue Restaurant + Cocktail Bar is proud to announce that Chef and Partner Alex Chen has been inducted into Disciples Escoffier International, a prestigious global gastronomic society honouring culinary excellence and the enduring legacy of renowned French chef Auguste Escoffier.

Chen was formally inducted on September 18, 2026 at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts in Vancouver. The ceremony was led by Michel Escoffier, great-grandson of Auguste Escoffier, as part of an evening celebrating Escoffier’s influence on modern cuisine. Chen received the society’s red sash, presented to professional chefs who demonstrate a commitment to culinary excellence, education and the advancement of their profession.

“To be inducted into Disciples Escoffier International by Michel Escoffier is truly an honour,” said Chen. “Auguste Escoffier’s influence extends far beyond classical French cuisine. His emphasis on discipline, organization, mentorship, and respect for the craft helped shape the modern culinary profession. These are principles I have carried throughout my career and continue to share with the next generation of chefs.”

In 2022, Chen joined his partners in opening Wild Blue Restaurant + Cocktail Bar in Whistler, where he guides a culinary program grounded in the ingredients and character of the Pacific Northwest. Since opening, Wild Blue has earned national and international recognition, including being named Canada’s No. 2 Best New Restaurant by Air Canada enRoute, Best Restaurant in Whistler by Vancouver Magazine, and one of North America’s 50 Best Restaurants. Chen was also inducted into the BC Restaurant Hall of Fame in 2024.
